FEATURED PRINT WEEK EVENTS:
KRISTEN MARTINCIC’s DEEP END at WONDER FAIR GALLERY
Wonder Fair Gallery celebrates its Grand Opening at 15 W. 9th Street with an exhibition of work by Kristen Martincic. Based in Columbia, Missouri, printmaker Martincic has been a friend to Wonder Fair for many years, making regular appearances at the biennial Print Fair, and is often remembered for her popular 2013 exhibition Surface Tension at Wonder Fair. In this more recent group of work, Deep End, Martincic will show newer woodcut and hand-cut paper swimsuits, dimensional pool floats, and crystalline images of swimming pools-- their gently deepening ombre tones reassuring us that after 11 years, Wonder Fair is probably prepared to wade a bit farther into the deep end in pursuit of that impossibly complex relational dream: that somehow, “a rising tide lifts all boats”.
On View at Wonder Fair Gallery from September 27 through November 17, 2019.
Sign off on Print Week and celebrate the Fresh Ink juried print exhibition at the biennial Wonder Fair Wayzgoose! This public celebration of printmakers and their patrons will feature music, drinks, and jollity.
Wondering “What’s a Wayzgoose”? This traditional printmakers’ fete dates back to the earliest days of movable type printing, when Master Printers would host a celebration for their workshop assistants after the conclusion of a large printing project or before the Winter season set in.
Publishers and Printmakers from around the region and afar will have prints on display and for sale. This print fair will bring together a tremendous variety and highest quality contemporary prints. Visitors will have the opportunity to view and acquire prints.
